Kathleen Ossiander

Kathleen Ossiander

Local Artist.

Oceanside Friends of the Arts - Board Member, VP of Scholarships & Grants

Kathleen Ossiander’s love of art began during her 17 years of service with the US Army. An Army-trained Graphics Illustrator, she produced military-themed comic strips and later became an instructor for the Graphics Course on Lowry AFB where she spent 4 years teaching and inspiring fellow artists in training.

Following her service Kathleen joined the civilian work force and focused on raising a family. An eventual move to scenic Oceanside reignited her artistic pursuits. Seeking new mediums, she studied under talented local watercolor artists, William Dunn and Charlotte Colosia.

She still works in watercolors and acrylics today, blending bold color palettes and realism-meets-impressionism to capture Oceanside’s natural beauty and vibrant beach culture. Her love for community, sea, and surfing is apparent in her paintings.

Her subjects often include curling waves, seaside scenes, sunsets, landmarks, and coastal flora and fauna.

“As I observe the inspiring landscapes around me, I challenge myself to recreate those images in a way that that evokes a similar emotion”.

A volunteer with Oceanside Friends of the Arts committee, Kathleen assists with production and promotion of Oceanside’s First Friday Art Walk. You can view her artworks there and at various pop up shows in San Diego county

Local Artist.

I began taking photographs in the late 1970’s.  Shooting and developing black and white film taught me a lot.  Scott learned how to bring out the fine details, lines, shadows, and contrast to enhance my pictures.

Moving to North San Diego County in 1980, I continued to pursue my hobby, and started to bring color into my photographs.  Shooting digitally, I taught myself how to bring out the incredible beauty, and show the wide range of color that our coastline has to offer.

I feel energized when I get down by the ocean.  I start setting up well before the “Golden Hour”, and continue working my camera long after the “Blue Hour” bringing out all the incredible colors of the ocean and sky as they change by the minute.

I want pictures to inspire, excite, and lift people’s moods.  I hope my photos will bring creativity, motivation, and joy to others!

Photography is my passion, and I am honored to share it with all of you!

All of my work is available in various sizes and formats.

You may contact me at (760) 390-1610

Jen Burns is originally from the Bay Area and a true city girl.  She adapted to the SoCal life willingly and loves Oceanside!

Jen has been in Oceanside 18 years now raising 3 amazing kids with her husband Rich.

She comes from a Wedding and Party planner background which started her love of crafting for the sake of her events

“I found such a sense of peace and quiet when I crafted and one day began painting with acrylics”.  Using her hands only, she enjoyed the healing aspects of blending the colors on a canvas.  She then felt like her pieces were not truly representative of who she was or what she was feeling, then she found Resin!!!  Now she enjoys making all types of resin/liquid acrylic creations.  Geodes, beach sea life wall art, even furniture.  Her favorite thing of all is to be invited into someone’s home and create a piece that reflects what she feels in each home with paint, resin, crystals, glitter!!!!!

Jim McAdory

Jim McAdory

Local Artist from Vista.

My interest in photography began just after high school when I entered college as a Radio-Television-Film major however that direction was interrupted by a few years of military service.  My time in the military led to a change of interest as I was exposed to the magic of early mainframe computers which led to a career as a financial systems consultant/contractor designing, developing and implementing software systems for Fortune 100 size and smaller firms.

Much of my early career was spent on travel to client locations in major U.S. cities and a few not-so-major locations.  The opportunity to visit so many places and taste the beauty and uniqueness of each spurred my desire to travel even more. During this time I still had an interest in photography but found that film work to be frustratingly time-consuming for my hectic work schedule.  The digital revolution changed everything for me and I found myself quickly drawn to the emerging world digital cameras and PC based photo and video editing software. As my interest grew I immersed myself in not only learning the technical aspects of photography but also the artistic side and the immediate feedback offered by a digital camera was what I had missed in the days of film.

Today I am often asked how much of my travel is primarily for photography to which my answer is “none”.  All of my photographs are from trips where my primary reason for being there had little to do with what images I could capture, the photos are simply a way to share beautiful or interesting sights with others.

His father gave him first camera in the mid 70s when he was no more than 10 years old. Mark wants to share the world as he sees it through his photography.

Mark is a fine art outdoor photographer shooting from the mountains to the beaches of Southern California. Mark is a creative, hard working professional who loves sharing how he experiences the outdoors with others. He captures simple moments of beauty.
